My Struggle

Everyday I am reminded that I have a huge struggle. You might have the same struggle but it could be completely different. I believe we all have one (struggle). My struggle is my PRIDE.

A Short Definition of Pride: a high or inordinate opinion of one’s own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether ascherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc.

Here is how my pride is lived out  in a nutshell (or at least a list)

  • The pride to look good even it that means everyone else around me doesn’t.
  • The pride to make sure I look correct even if everyone else doesn’t.
  • The pride to out preform the next guy/girl.
  • The pride to make people think I know everything.
  • The pride to make people feel like I know how to do everything.

This has created problems as a husband, dad, pastor, and friend. My need is to put my pride on the chopping block and lay it down. The struggle for me is, I have lived with it so long it is easy to go back and pick it up again.

I need the Spirit to breakdown my hardened heart before I breakdown or destroy friendships and relationships with others. This can be tough to confess the need for us, but if we are going to be whole people we must confess this need. If we are going to walk in freedom we must learn confess this struggle and give it to God and allow others to walk with us on this journey.

My Prayer goes soemthing like this and you can just insert your sin in it’s place.
Jesus cut the sin of pride out of my life, so I will be more like You then myself. Let me give you control and realize I can’t do anything without you and everything I try to accomplish on my own is nothing, no matter what i think or others think.

What struggle do you have that I can pray for you about?
